A Day in London

Changing of the gaurds (check out my YouTube page for a video!! Link
on the sidebar), meandered through the museum gardens just in time for
the sun to come out! Hopped on and off the big red bus and got some
very entertaining stories about the city, and enjoyed a handful of
pubs as well as a cheese sandwhich with branston pickle. Yumm!

Turned out that the SATC2 premiere was last night but unfortunately I
missed all the good stuff. :( pretty down about that but I did hang
out in Leicester Square while they were all in watching the movie! And
I saw a couple local celebs, Amanda Hall and some Daisy chick. Will
have to google them. Still pretty stoked to know that I was feet from
SJP and Kim Catrall!!! Love those gals!

Today we are on our way up to York. Looking forward to seeing Simon's
hometown!!!

Hello there, London. Pleased to meet you!

A long, long flight but every bit worth it, hotel is quite small as
expected but is nicely updated - very cozy!

Once we got settled and cleaned up it was off to the pub (The Monkey
Puzzle) and then the London Eye. They had a quick 4D experience
beforehand that was really cool and got you psyched up for the LE.
Views were stunning! A neighboring pod was catered with drinks, and in
ours a 10 yr old's mom brought a bday cake and her family sang to her.
It was all a fantastic experience.

Afterwards, we made our way to Picadilly Circus for dinner - yummy
Italian!

We got around on the underground, under 6 was a steal for the
roundtrip and all the stops in between!

Stopped for tins of beer and chocolate bars. I got a Kronenberg
(1.49!!) and a chocolate orange bar and Si got a strongbow and a
cider. Climbed out to the rooftop garden of our hotel and finished off
the night.

Slept amazing! On day 2 and can't wait to get moving! Looking forward
to a fry up in the city. Yum!

Best Layover Ever

A stroll across the Mississippi, surprised Payton and picked her up
from school, Wii resort tourney with the kids, and watching Harrison's
baseball game.

Yep... Best layover ever. Now we're off to catch the red eye!

Bon Voyage!

The time has finally come - we set off for our super-wonderful-fabulous 3 week vacation this morning!

After 3 years of talking about this trip and about 8 months of planning, it's a surreal moment to know it's finally here...  Is this really happening to me?

We have a long layover in Minneaopolis - 8 hours! But I'm not bothered, it's a perfect opportunity to see some family!  My brother is going to pick us up, you know, the jokester, and we will first surprise Payton at her school - she has no idea we are coming!  We'll also get to see Harrison's baseball game!  Which will end in perfect timing to get back to the airport for our red eye.

It's going to be a long couple of days, but we'll survive.  Shit, we have enough time to recoup! haha

Stay tuned for some photo blogs...

I can't fucking wait!

Simon + Morgan turned 2

Sorry I've been a little MIA and a little preoccupied but finally I'm going to share with you the super fun day we had to celebrate our 2 year anniversary.

In case you missed it, here is the story of how we met.

Our anniversary was on a Wednesday, a day that we have opposite schedules, so we made plans to celebrate Saturday.  We decided on a picnic, hanging out at the pool, and then grilling at home.  Since we're trying to save money we opted for staying in and it ended up being more than perfect!

But rather than ramble on, I'll tell you in photos.  Enjoy!

The Flowers

Fig spread, apples, brie, prosciutto, and honey Bruschetta

A party in your mouth

The classic
fresh tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and basil (from the garden!)

Tasty!

Simon's favorite pose
He insisted I did it, too but I think I look incredibly silly...

Springtime calls for bare feet and in AZ, it also means poolside
We went for pedis before the picnic - here is mine =)

It's almost time for dinner... Simon preps the steaks for the grill
....and I prep the corn & asparagus

...and open another bottle of wine

Steaks are ready to grill and I keep Simon company on the patio

per usual, the steaks were divine and the wine and conversation kept flowing.   I love our nights in.

Love you, babe!  Thanks for an amazing day together!

It's a little sunnier

Yesterday I made a pretty depressing  post  full of self pity.  Today, I have a better attitude.

While I am still really tired with fuzzy eyes and a slow-moving, heavy body, I'm not so down on myself.  I see the light, sort of.  Shit, this is probably all a bad case of PMS anyways...

But there is so much that I can do in life - the possibilities are endless!  And it is definitely something I will focus on once I'm back from my trip, but right now I need to put my all in the present!  No more sour puss!

I haven't talked about running since my post about my off week so I'll fill you in.  It's tough - I'm having a really hard time getting motivated and once I'm out there I'm not at 100%.  But I'm doing it.  I won't quit.  I've been close a few times but I just won't do it.  Only 4 more runs left in the program! Can't stop now!

Get ready, folks!  T-minus 13 days until we touch down in London town!  2 nights in London, a week in York, then it's jet set to Lanzarote in the Canary Islands (with maybe some diving in my future!)  But this is all a whole other post that I will save for later.

Knockin' myself out of my funk because I just can't stand the sound of myself anymore.  Suck it up, Morg!  Your childhood dream of a vacation is less than 2 fucking weeks away!!!!!!! The other shit can wait!

Lately I feel like...

have no purpose.
have no drive.
am not giving it my all.
am slow, distracted, and lazy.
am indecisive and fickle.
am not happy.
work a dead end job.
can't get hired.
am unsure of my direction.
don't know what I want to do.
think I chose the wrong path.
have nothing to offer.
want to go to sleep and wake up on vacation.

My self-worth is diminished and I need an intervention.

I don't know what it is but my mojo is M.I.A.!  I don't want to get out of bed in the morning and I can't wait to go to sleep at night.  I dread getting off of work because that means there are 5 hours to kill before I can sleep again.  While there is plenty for me to do between working my second job, exercising, chores, and little projects here and there, all I want to do is eat dinner, have a glass of wine, and veg in front of the T.V. until it is too painful to stay awake any longer.  But I push through keeping myself busy and trying to be as productive as I can.

Every day I question what I want to do with my career.  My childhood dreams involved animals and the ocean or kids and art.  Now, I feel as if I've settled for a career in business and office management just because it is easy.  But it doesn't feel like this is my purpose.

Anyone who knows me knows that I love to plan and organize and some people think I'm bossy.  Natural characteristics for management, right?

But I like to be creative!  And don't want to sit at a desk entering data and shuffling paper.  I said in my bio section that I love to plan and organize but don't like to "do."  Well this is so true!  I would much rather be putting things together, analyzing procedures and layouts for efficiency, piecing puzzles together, thinking of ways that things can be the best and also that everyone will be happy along the way.  Everything has to look good, too.

So what the hell am I supposed to be doing?  And how the hell do I get there?

I want to wake up and know I get to go out into the world, use my creativity, and make someone's life a little easier and a lot more pleasant.

Maybe Classy Closets is hiring.

Sorry for the Debbie Downer post - I'm really in a FUNK!

I am lethargic

I can't get motivated to shake this groggy mind and body

Woe is me

Current obsessions

I think I am channeling my tween self - I am actually obsessed with a bit of pop culture and fashion trends and it has definitely been a while...

The Top Knot

I saw a mention of it somewhere between Glamour and my Fitness Mag emails - at first I was weary but I rocked it last week (a lot) and loved it!

White Nail Polish

Ana from far away, inspired me when she wrote about her recent white polish manicure.  I have to say, it looks fabulous!
(P.S. Gwen Stefani is amazing and my original tween role model)

"OMG"

I cannot get enough of this song!  Usher never fails.  Heart him.

I've also fallen in love with my new Pumas

The best part about them is they were free, kind of... In case you weren't aware, Nordstrom has THE best return policy - so long as you have the receipt you can return clothes you've been wearing for who knows how long.  I bought a super cute pair of jeans just shy of a year ago but they're too big now (woo hoo!) and there was a tiny (fixable but why bother) spot where the seam was coming apart.  Pow!  Instant $75!  They're super comfortable and have a thin profile.  Now my feet will be happy and I don't have to wear my clunky running shoes!  Score!
